Wellbeing
Welcome to the Wellbeing section of our school's website. At Salmestone Primary School, we recognise the importance of underpinning academic growth by nurturing the holistic well-being of our students.
This section provides resources, support, and guidance to help our students and their families, and to promote positive mental health practices among our school community.
Navigating the challenges of growing up can sometimes be overwhelming. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where students feel empowered to prioritise their wellbeing and seek assistance when needed. It is very important that if you have any worries or concerns about your safety, mental health or wellbeing you talk to a member of staff. This can be your tutor, a teacher or a member of the pastoral team.
In collaboration with students, parents, staff and mental health professionals, we have curated a range of resources to signpost you to.. Whether you're looking for information on coping strategies, stress management techniques during exams, or seeking support for yourself or a friend, you'll find valuable insights and practical tools to navigate the ups and downs of life.
Our goal is to promote a culture of open dialogue surrounding mental health, reducing stigma, and creating a sense of belonging within our school community.
Explore the resources available in this section, and remember, you are not alone.
Meet the team who are here to support you every step of the way on your journey through school...

Our year 5 and 6 pupils went on a school trip to Kent Life on this week to learn all about the Stone Age. The children learnt about farming, weapons, cave drawings, beliefs and burials and had a go at grinding grain to make flour. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and consolidated their learning from our history topic. The group also had the opportunity to go on a tractor ride and met some farm animals during the day. 😊

This week Pyrenees class was interrupted during a writing lesson by an urgent letter from the big bad wolf. 🐺 He had lost his diary, prompting the students to follow a series of clues around the school to find it. Children will begin to learn how to write their own diary entries like the big bad wolf in the following weeks.

This years' Anti-Bullying Week theme, 'Power for Good' has come about following consultation with teachers and pupils by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Teachers and children wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes. We will be using the Anti-Bullying Alliance resources in school this week to focus on how we can actively use our Power for Good, and what we can do to stop bullying. #AntiBullyingWeek #PowerForGood

On Tuesday 11th November, our children commemorated Remembrance Day. We held a two minute's silence at 11am, sold poppies and other merchandise to raise money for the Royal British Legion and l took time to learn about and remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Pyrenees class have been focusing on the book ‘little red riding hood’ this term. They have learned a version of the story and have now began to change some details to make their own versions. Children then worked in small groups to act out the story and retell this in their groups. Next the children will use their adapted ideas and write their own versions of ‘little red riding hood’.
