Wellbeing
Welcome to the Wellbeing section of our school's website. At Salmestone Primary School, we recognise the importance of underpinning academic growth by nurturing the holistic well-being of our students.
This section provides resources, support, and guidance to help our students and their families, and to promote positive mental health practices among our school community.
Navigating the challenges of growing up can sometimes be overwhelming. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where students feel empowered to prioritise their wellbeing and seek assistance when needed. It is very important that if you have any worries or concerns about your safety, mental health or wellbeing you talk to a member of staff. This can be your tutor, a teacher or a member of the pastoral team.
In collaboration with students, parents, staff and mental health professionals, we have curated a range of resources to signpost you to.. Whether you're looking for information on coping strategies, stress management techniques during exams, or seeking support for yourself or a friend, you'll find valuable insights and practical tools to navigate the ups and downs of life.
Our goal is to promote a culture of open dialogue surrounding mental health, reducing stigma, and creating a sense of belonging within our school community.
Explore the resources available in this section, and remember, you are not alone.
Meet the team who are here to support you every step of the way on your journey through school...

Recently Year 5 and Year 6 took part in the TKAT tag rugby festival at Newlands. The children came 3rd in the competition growing with each game they played. For most of the children it was their first time in a competitive rugby game and the team did extremely well, showing great sportsmanship and determination. 🤩

As part of World Maths Day, our Year 6 children worked alongside our Year 1 children supporting them with Numbots. The older children provided encouragement and technical support helping the younger children to log on independently, enabling them to practice their maths in the classroom and even at home. Our Year 6 children were great role models. 😍

Year 1 had a brilliant DT week creating their very own pull along toys. The children explored how moving axles work and experimented with ways to make them run smoothly and effectively. Each child designed their own monster toy and brought it to life with fantastic creativity and care. The results were wonderful. Well done Year 1! 🤩

For Science Week, Andes Class and Himalayas Class focused on the question 'What sort of vehicle would be best on the moon?'. Their related task was to design a moon rover! The children initially investigated the features of the moon to inform their designs and then researched a range of lunar vehicles to really inspire them. Well done Year 5 and 6!
