Welcome to Eagles and Spoonbills
This term we are so excited to be reading Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. The children have already been making bear pictures, re-enacting the story, drawing story walks and exploring the story through sensory boxes. We had a fabulous day at Wingham Bird Park and we are now looking forward to our Sports Day moment.
The children have really enjoyed the outside area this week. They have been mixing potions and creating lovely perfumes with different types of foliage!
Welcome back to Term Five
This term we will be reading a fabulous story about a superhero called Superworm.
This term our topic will be minibeasts, we will be making minibeasts from clay, junk modelling and painting.
If you have time at home to make or paint different minbeasts please send them in we would love to have a minibeast art gallery.
We would also like to read other books about minibeasts so if you have some different ones at home please feel free to send them in. Please make sure that they have your child's name clearly written inside.
Our role play area is a Garden Center, if you have any plastic plants or some real seeds that you can spare please could we have them we are going to try and grow some different things in our garden.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you throughout the term.
The children joined Key Stage 1 for a fire safety talk. The lady firefighter showed us her special clothes. Some of the children were able to try on the clothes. We watched a video that showed us the danger of playing with matches.
We learnt a rhyme to help us remember this.
Matches, matches never touch.
They can hurt you very much!
World Book Day Celebrations
We all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite character, here is Spoonbill sharing Burglar Bill with Miss Capon who came dressed as Burglar Bill.
This week we have been creating actions for our story in English. In Maths we have been ordering in 2's and some children have ordered numbers up to 50! Well done Emily Rose Corn and Aleeya Belle Chambers who went to see Mr Pantling to show their fantastic achievements.
This term we will be reading the book On The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers.
During this term our topic will be Space as this links to our story. We will also be creating lots of different models related to Space, making models of rockets, aliens and planets. If you have any books, either fact or fiction on this subject, that you think the children might enjoy please allow the children to bring these in to share. These books will be taken care of and returned with your child at home time.
This week we have been looking at estimation.
Our challenge was to estimate how many objects were in the jars and then count them to see how accurate our estimates were.
It was tricky for us not to try to count the objects before
we made our estimates.
